A quick read of the Bible which tells of the good news of Jesus and the church we find a few key teachings. Christ is as we like to say, “the heart, core and center” of all that we believe, teach and confess. In addition, we by virtue of our baptism are all connected to Christ, but also to one another. Hence the body of Christ imagery.

So it makes sense that a logo for a coaching network has the cross at the center and the “people” joining hands and encircling around it.
Yet the challenge is our sinful nature. It is always our sinful nature. We often tend to be solo acts, or one man bands or those who go at it alone. To put it really negatively we may want all the credit or glory. We may even think we’ll be the ones to do it right while others…not so much. “Easier to do it myself” may capture what we are feeling or thinking at times. Ouch.
Yet nothing could be further from the truth. God built us as His own for community. He restored our relationship to Himself in Christ and then formed us to need one another. From confession and absolution, which requires the give and take of two or more, to the gathering together in corporate worship to serving His purposes. We were meant to be together, and especially as we worship the Savior.
Practically speaking we all know that we are so different. In coaching, many of us use assessments to increase self awareness for our clients. From Myers-Briggs to Strengthsfinders to DISC to CVI to the newer Working Genius and others, the message is clear. Where we are weak, others are strong. We need one another. It is in fact foolhardy to go alone. It is easier and lighter and frankly more effective and productive to go together.
For those in Christ then the living out of that happens in many ways:
“Wash one another’s feet” Jn 13:14
“Love one another” Jn 13:34
“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love” Rm 12:10
“Honor one another above yourselves” Rm 12:10
“Live in harmony with one another” Rm 12:16
“Instruct one another” Rm 15:14
“Serve one another in love” Gal 5:13
“Carry each other’s burdens” Gal 6:2
“…in humility consider others better than yourselves” Phil 2:3
“encourage each other” 1 Th 4:18
“spur one another on toward love and good deeds” Hey 10:24
“pray for each other” Jm 5:16
“love one another deeply” 1 Pt 4:8
And the list can go on. Yet it is clear. In Christ we are together and need one another. As coaches we have a joyful calling to encourage the body of Christ in the use, growth, and spread of coaching, so that people may live out their calling in Christ.
What a humble privilege to be joined to Christ by grace and what a joy to be joined to you as fellow coaches. As we join hands in this network in prayer and good works done in His name, I can’t wait to see what He will accomplish! May His name be praised and more come to profess Jesus as Savior!
